The Jesup Memorial Library has the opportunity to receive up to $2500 in a matching grant thanks to Bar Harbor Bank and Trust who will match all donations from new donors and those who have not given for a few years between now and April 30th, 2016.

This matching grant coincides with the start of National Library Week (April 10th-16th). All money raised will go directly to support the Jesup, the private nonprofit that acts as the library for the town of Bar Harbor since it opened in 1911. Funding for the Jesup comes from numerous sources, with the Town of Bar Harbor providing less than 5 percent of the operating budget. The Jesup's endowment provides 43 percent and the remaining comes from donations from individuals and businesses.

In 2015, the Jesup served more than 8.800 people and hosted concerts, author talks, arts and crafts, science and technology and other lectures. The Jesup offers free 24 hour Wi-Fi and access to public computers, plus thousands of books, e-books, music, movies and a telescope!

Donations may be made through the Jesup's website, in person at the library or mailed to 34 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor, Maine 04609.
