When emergency services are required on the offshore seasonal island communities the phrase "It Takes a Village" is never more true.

Sunday afternoon Tremont Volunteer Fire Department members,  and Southwest Harbor EMS responded to Great Gott Island via the Fishing Vessel Justin Colby.

Island residents shuttled rescuers ashore in rowboats and took them to the patient and then the first responders established a Landing Zone so Life Flight of Maine could transport the patient . Islanders lent the rescuers vehicles to establish the landing zone and transport the patient to Life Flight of Maine

According to Tremont Fire Chief Keith Higgins "Assistance from 911 Dispatcher, Lobster Boat Captains, punt rowers and the ATV drivers made this rescue run smoothly for Rescuers and Life Flight of Maine crew."
