The Maine McDonald’s Restaurants are hosting a  Statewide Fundraiser to honor Mothers and raise money for the Bangor and Portland Ronald McDonald Houses. “There’s nothing stronger than a mother’s love - an embracing hug, a tender kiss or comforting words of encouragement.  This love and support are even more crucial for seriously ill children whose healthy outcome depends on having loved ones nearby.

There are two ways for people to honor their mothers and that someone special in their lives.  From May 1 to May 12, celebrate with McDonald’s by purchasing a $1 paper flower, filling in a name and posting it in the restaurant.  Or make a donation to the Ronald McDonald House anytime between May 1 and May 10, and a card will be sent letting them know a donation has been made in their honor.  Go to the rmhportland.org or rmhbangor.org Mother’s Day webpage and click on the Make a Donation button. Maine’s two Ronald McDonald Houses offer a home away from home for families whose children are receiving critical medical care.  Depending on the medical need, lengths of stays can add up from one week to 42 days to 168 nights and even more.   “We truly believe the House was the single biggest factor in Ben’s recovery.  For that, my family is forever grateful to the Ronald McDonald House and its selfless volunteers.” – the Tash family stayed at the House for 206 nights.

We hear stories like these each and every day and although a dollar does not seem like much, it does add up and we can guarantee the doors will remain open and the lights on 24 hours a day so no family is ever turned away when they need us all the most.
