A Hermon man is facing multiple charges, including Operating Under the Influence, after an accident on Broadway in Bangor on Tuesday.  Police say the accident totaled both vehicles involved and sent both drivers to the hospital.

According to Bangor police, Lewis Pearson, 52, was driving his Ford Expedition outbound on Broadway at 4:44pm. Suddenly, his vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, and struck an inbound Subaru Forrester driven by Guillermo Olivos, 55, of Bangor.

As a result of the collision, the Subaru was tipped over, and Olivos was trapped in his vehicle for a short time until the Bangor Fire Department could free him. He and Pearson were both taken to the hospital by the Bangor Fire Department with complaints of pain.

Pearson is now charged with Operating Under the Influence, Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His arraignment is set for Jan. 18.
