The MDI Trojans started a 3-game stretch of 3 games in 3 days, playing host to the Hermon Hawks on Wednesday, January 31st at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor, but unfortunately for the Trojan faithful, Hermon proved too much for the Trojans, beating then 45-33.

The Trojans playing without Andrew Phelps who had surgery recently, fell behind in the 1st Quarter 17-9 as the Hawks closed out the 1st Quarter with an 8-0 run. Jacob Godfrey had 8 points for Hermon, with a monster dunk, Garrett Rask had 4 points, Isaac Varney had a 3-pointer and Keenan Marseille had 2 points for Hermon. For MDI Derek Collin had 4 points, Drew Shea had a 3-pointer and Colby Lee had 2 points.

Hermon extended their lead to 13 points at the Half, 28-15 outscoring MDI 11-6 in the 2nd Quarter. Godfrey had 4 points with another dunk, Trask had a 3-pointer, and Varney and Cody Hawes had 2 points each. For MDI Eli Parady, Derek Collin and Brett Duley each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Hermon 11-2 to cut Hermon's lead to 4 points at the end of the 3rd Quarter 30-26. Hermon didn't score a field goal in the 3rd Quarter, going 2-4 from the free throw line for their lone points, 1 by Godfrey and 1 by Hawes. For MDI Drew Shea had 8 points with a long 3-pointer, and Owen Mild, celebrating his 18th birthday had 2 points, as did Dane Vanzura.

In the 4th Quarter Hermon went 5-6 from the free throw line, scoring 15 points. Varney had 5 points, Gofdrey 4 points, Hawes and Marseilles 2 points each and Trask 2 points. For MDI Shea had his 3rd 3-pointer and Finn McConomy 4 points. MDI finally went to the free throw line for the 1st time with 5:39 remaining in the game.

Hermon was led by Jacob Grodfrey with a game high 17 points, Isaac Varney had 10 points and Garrett Trask 8 points. Hermon was 8-11 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Drew Shea with 13 points and Derek Collin had 6 points. The Trojans were 2-2 from the free throw line.

MDI now 11-3 plays host to Orono on Thursday, February 1st at 7 PM. That game will be broadcast on  AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device

Hermon, undefeated at 15-0 plays host to Foxcroft Academy on Thursday, February 1st at 7PM.
