Former Ellsworth Eagle, Kyle Haslam had an  assist and led the Mariners with 4 shots, but it wasn't quite enough, as the Maine Maritime Academy Men's Soccer team lost their first game of the season on Tuesday, September 1st to the University of New England 2-1.

Jonathan Reeks scored MMA's goal when he headed in a header from Haslam on a Bryan Soucy corner and the Mariners led 1-0 at the half.

UNE scored twice in the second half, with goals from Ekrik Holmgvist to tie the game 1-1 at the 51st minute and then Dan Good's goal in the 60th minute proved to be the winner for the Nor'Easters.

Ellsworth High School is well represented on the MMA Men's Soccer Team, as in addition to Kyle Haslam , freshmen Jeff Weeks, Jack Weeks and John Fendl are all on the team.

MMA resumes action on Friday, September 4th when they play the University of Maine - Fort Kent up in Fort Kent.
