George "Boomer" Scott, the first baseman for the 1967 Impossible Dream Team of the Boston Red Sox has passed away at the age of 71 according to the Mississippi paper, the Delta Democrat-Times.

Smith was a 3 time All-Star Selection, in 1966, 1975 and 1977. He was a 8 time Gold Glove Winner, winning the award in 1967, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976. He was also inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.

He had a career batting average of .268 and hit 271 home runs and knocked in 1051 RBI's.  Scott played for the Red Sox from 1966-1971, the Milwaukee Brewers 1972-1976, the Red Sox 1977-1979 and the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees as well in 1979.
