If you're old enough to remember one of the first reality shows, The Gong Show, you'll remember Gene, Gene the Dancing Machine. The Gong Show was one of the first "talent" shows that was on TV, airing on NBC from 1976-1978, and then in syndication and if the judges didn't like the performance, they would hit the huge gong! Chuck Barris, the host would announce Gene, Gene the Dancing Machine and he would bring the audience and judges to their feet for a quick dance party!

Gene Gene the Dancing Machine was born Gene Patton and was a NBC stagehand. He died at 82 last Monday,March 9th. He is survived by his children Bonnie, Carol, Sidney and Courtney, his sister Henrietta, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
