The Boston Red Sox are the American League Champions! After last season, when the Boston Red Sox went through the motions from late August on, this year, they are playing for the World Series Championship in late October, after defeating the Detroit Tigers 5-2 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, winning the series 4-2.

The final out wasn't recorded until early Sunday morning, so you can be partially excused if you missed part of the game. Here are some of the highlights

Shane Victorino hit a grand slam on a 0-2 pitch, in the bottom of the 7th inning, with the Tigers leading 2-1. It was the second grand slam for the Sox in the series.

Victorino's grand slam just an inning after the Red Sox turned a double play with no outs and runners on first and third.

And the celebration was on!

The Red Sox will now face the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, which you can hear on WDEA AM 1370. Games 1 and 2 will be at Fenway Park, beginning Wednesday night. The Red Sox will have home field advantage thanks to the American League winning the All Star game this July.
