MDI High School graduate, and incoming Maine Maritime Senior Shelby O'Neil checked in from the Louisiana Coast to fill us in on what she's been doing since we last spoke with her and she'd been out in the Tropical waves from Tropical Storm Cindy!

Shelby reports

"This past week has been hottest yet, we've been out on deck loading and backloading cargo in about 120 degree weather. When we offload chemicals we are in fire resistant suits, and if it's methanol there are two deckhands suited up in full fire fighting equipment. It's so hot that you can fry an egg on the back deck. We always look after each other and make sure to be drink lots of water and Gatorade to keep our sodium and electrolyte levels up. It's been smooth sailing so far, almost like a lake. One more week of this and I will be homeward bound!"
