Foxcroft Softball Sweeps MDI

The Foxcroft Academy Pony's softball team swept MDI in Bar Harbor on Saturday, April 25th losing 13-10 in 11 innings and 8-7 in 9 innings.

In the 1st game, Foxcroft led 6-0 after 5 innings, but MDI plated 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th and tied it in the bottom of the 7th inning. Foxcroft scored 4 runs in the top of the 9th, and MDI answered in the bottom of the 9th inning. In the top of the 11th inning the Ponies plated 3 more runs, and ended up winning the game 13-10.

For MDI Molly Carroll was 2-3, with a home run and double, driving in 3 runs. Darcy Kanu was 3-5 with a double and driving in 3 runs.. Avalon Kerley was 1-6, Ali Bierman was 1-6, Riley Mooers was 1-5 with a doubble, Katie Guarino was 2-5 with a RBI, Cassidy Parady was 1-2 and Alaina Duley was 2-3 with a RBI.

MDI's Haley Littlefield pitched 5 innings allowing 6 runs, 4 of which were earned, and gave up 10 hits. Aubrie Boyce took the loss, pitching the last 6 innings giving up 7 runs, 4 of which were earned and walked 2 and struck out 1.

S. Clukey pitched the first 6 innings for Foxcroft Academy, giving up 5 runs, all earned, 6 hits, walking 8 and striking out 9. B. Adkins picked up the win pitching the last 5 innings giveing up 5 runs, 1 of which was earned, walking 1 and striking out 3.

In Game 2 MDI took the early lead, 4-1 after two innings, but Foxcroft scored 4 runs in the top of the 3rd to take a 5-4 lead. Both teams scored 2 runs in the 4th inning, and MDI pushed across a run in the bottom of the 5th to tie the score at 7-7. It stayed that way until Foxcroft scored the winning run in the top of the 9th inning.

G. Bickford homered off Hailey Littlefield for the Ponies. Littlefield went 4 innings allowing 7 runs, 2 of which were earned. She struck out 1 and gave up 8 hits. Madison Thornton pitched the last 5 innings for MDI allowing the winning run, 3 hits, stiking out 1 and walking 3.

For MDI Julianna Cleaves was 1-5 with 3 RBI's. Molly Carroll was 2-4 with 2 RBI's. Avalon Kerley was 1-5. Aubrie Boyce was 1-3, Madison Thornton was 1-1, Riley Mooers was 1-2, Alaina Duley was 1-2, Katie Guarino was 1-5 with a double, and Cassidy Parady was 2-4 with a double.

For The Ponies, Allie Barget was 3-5, Bickford was 3-5, Johnson was 1-5, Prescott was 1-5, Abbie Bourget was 2-4 and Braun was 1-4

Clukey pitched the complete game for the Ponies, allowing 7 runs, all earned, 11 hits, striking out 5 and walking 8.

MDI is now 1-2 and plays at Ellsworth on Thursday, April 30th at 4:30 and then hosts a doubleheader against Presque Isle on Saturday May 2nd at 12 noon and 2 PM.

Foxcroft Academy is now 3-0. They host Old Town Tuesday April 28th at 4:30 PM and then host John Bapst on Friday May 1st at 4:30 PM.
