Foxcroft 43 MDI 6 [PHOTOS]

It was a cold and rainy night in Bar Harbor, and the Foxcroft Academy Ponies came to Bar Harbor and defeated the MDI Trojans 43-6 on Senior Night.

The rain had stopped prior to the game, but the field was extremely wet, and very muddy. MDI won the toss and deferred, electing to kick off. Foxcroft Academy took over on their own 43 yard line, and 10 plays later, Hunter Smith the junior quarterback scampered in from 4 yards our. The drive took 4:29 and the 2 point conversion failed. With 7:24 left in the 1st Quarter Foxcroft led 6-0.

MDI took over on thier own 24 yard line, and were unable to move the ball, going 4 and out. Punting the ball away, Foxcroft took over on the MDI 45 yard line with 5:11 left in the quarter. Four plays later Senior Peter Boyer raced in from 29 yards out. The 2 point conversion waqs good, and with 2:52 left in the 1st Quarter, Foxcroft Academy was up 14-0.

The two teams traded punts, and MDI took over again on their own 48 yard line. They went 9 plays before turning the ball over on downs, and Foxcroft Academy took over on their own 6 yard line with 6:08 left in the half. MDI's defense forced a fumble one play later, and the Trojans took over on the Foxcroft 15 with 6:02 left in the half.

Four plays later, Senior Sandy Henggeler powered into the end zone. The 2 point conversion failed, and with 4:57 left in the half, MDI was down 14-6.

Foxcroft Academy returned the kickoff to their own 47 yard line, where they took over with 4:54 left in the half. 4 plays, 1:43 later Hunter Smith was in the end zone for his second touchdown of the night, scoring from the 27 yard line. The 2 point conversion was good, and Foxcroft Academy led at the half 22-6.

MDI in the first half had 79 yards rushing and 58 yards passing as Freshman Andrew Phelps was 3-6 passing. Foxcroft Academy had 193 yards rushing, with Smith having 124 yards, Boyer 66 yards and Chris Storer 3 yards.

At this point the rain had resumed, when MDI received the ball in the second half. They went 10 plays, eating up 4:57 before turning the ball over on downs, and Foxcroft Academy took over on their own 17 yard line. The Trojan defense forced a punt, and MDI had the ball on their own 12 yard line. But a fumble, resulted in the Ponies having the ball on the Trojan 9 yard line with 4:01 left in the 3rd Quarter.

1 play later, Boyer ran the ball into the end zone, and the point after kick was good, and Foxcroft led 29-6 with 3:53 left in the 3rd Quarter.

At this point, both teams traded punts and possessions until Foxcroft Academy had the ball at their 43 yard line with 8:14 left in the game. Boyer would score from 7 yards out, his 3rd touchdown of the game, and the kick was through the uprights, and the Ponies led 36-6.

Foxcroft Academy would score once more on the night, when backup quarterback Chris Storer ran 66 yards with 48 seconds left in the game. The point after was good, and the final was Foxcroft Academy 43 MDI 6.

This was the last regular season game. MDI ends the season at 3-5 and will likely face Foxcroft Academy 6-2 in Dover Foxcroft next weekend in the playoffs.
