Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Christopher A. Fogg will be named Chamber Executive of the Year by the Maine State Chamber of Commerce during their annual dinner at the Augusta Civic Center on Oct. 15.

“It’s an honor to receive this recognition from the Maine State Chamber, especially considering the good work accomplished by my fellow chamber executives,” said Fogg.

Each year, the Maine State Chamber recognizes a local chamber of commerce executive's hard work and dedication, determined by a statement of achievements detailing such noteworthy efforts as economic development initiatives, successful events, and an improved bottom line.

Since 2006, Fogg has been the executive director at the chamber in Bar Harbor where he oversees the day-to-day operations of the 500-member organization and manages 20 full-time and seasonal staff. As one of the premier travel destinations in Maine with nearly three million visitors annually, Fogg is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing strategies for Bar Harbor.

“A strong, collaborative group of members and a very talented staff has led to our success in Bar Harbor. I’m fortunate to work in and for a community that has an exceptional tourism product, as well as a vibrant business environment that contributes to our overall economic vitality,” stated Fogg.

Prior to coming to Bar Harbor, Fogg was vice president of travel and tourism for the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and president of the Vermont Attractions Association where he lead the Vermont Chamber of Commerce’s lobbying efforts on travel, tourism, and transportation issues. In addition, Fogg has nearly eight years of management experience with Sage Hotels Inc., a Boston-based hotel corporation. He has also served as director of the Vermont State Sports Council and director of marketing for the Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce.

Fogg currently serves on the Board of the Maine Tourism Association, Friends of Acadia, DownEast & Acadia Regional Tourism and the Bar Harbor Cruise Ship Committee, as well as the Hub of Bar Harbor, the new Maine Development Foundation economic development group.
