Doug Fister gave up four runs in the first inning and it seemed the Red Sox could never overcome the deficit as the Oakland A's beat the Sox 7-3 last night.

The Sox loss combined with a Yankee win yesterday afternoon means it's back to a three game differential in the AL East. After four quality starts for Fister, this one was not so good. Six runs in just four innings of work. Meanwhile, the Sox offense had one of those frustrating nights - plenty of chances to score runs but no key hits. They were 1-for-10 with runners-in-scoring-postition. Dustin Pedroia had three hits, Andrew Benintendi had two and Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a solo home run.
