The Independence Day fireworks came early for the Red Sox in their matinee game versus the Texas Rangers as Boston won with ease by a score of 12-5.

The Sox scored in all but two innings they came up to the plate and tallied 21 hits in total throughout the game.  Sandy Leon continued to impress with four hits and pushed his average up to 500 for the season.  Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts, and Travis Shaw each had three hits and every single Sox player in the line-up had at least one base hit.

It wasn’t the greatest outing for starter Rick Porcello who earned the win while giving up 12 hits, four runs, and had three strike outs.   The bullpen shut down the next three innings, allowing four total hits and one run off of a solo shot given up by Koji Uehara.

The Sox will play the second game of the series against the Rangers on Tuesday night as they send David Price to the mound against AJ Griffin. You can hear the pregame starting at 6:25 with the 1st pitch at 7:10 on AM 1370 WDEA
