A father has been charged with the death of his infant son. The State Medical Examiner's office determined the 3-month-old died of asphyxia.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that Danny Adams, age 24 of Lewiston, was arrested Wednesday afternoon. He's been charged with murder in connection with the death of his son, Zade Adams. The infant was found unresponsive in his bassinet on the morning of December 14th. The father and son, along with the boy's mother, 18-year-old Kaitlyn Baker, lived in an apartment at 77 Rideout Avenue.

State and Lewiston Police have been working together on the investigation. Adams was arrested at his apartment and is expected to make his first court appearance on Thursday or Friday. He was taken to one of the Lewiston hospitals for observation and will later be transferred to the county jail.

The arrest changes last year's homicide number in Maine to 21 for the year. 14 of those deaths were the result of domestic violence, including this latest Lewiston case. Of the 14 domestic violence victims in 2014, eight were children under the age of 13.
