The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in connection with a fatal car crash Saturday evening. Investigators are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the owner of a vehicle seen in the area.

Chief Deputy Troy Morton says deputies were called to Route 2 in Hermon near Pomeroy's Logging at approximately 8:45 Saturday evening. When they arrived, they found an SUV that had gone off the road, striking several trees. It appeared the SUV had been traveling toward Hermon when it crossed the center line and went off the road.

Daniel Gray, 51 of Glenburn, died in the crash. A juvenile passenger was not injured.

Sheriff's Deputies are asking for the public's help in figuring out what happened prior to the crash. They're also seeking information about a dark-colored pickup truck with a prominent '55' attached at the back.  Anyone who thinks they may have information about the crash or this potential witness is asked to call the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office at 947-4585.

The Sheriff's office was assisted by the Hermon & Levant Fire Departments and Hermon Ambulance Service.
