Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell admitted this morning down in Ft. Myers, Florida that lefty Eduardo Rodriguez will start the year on the disabled list.

That means there is now competition for that spot in the rotation. Henry Owens, Steven Wright and Roenis Elias seem to be the most likely candidates.

E-Rod suffered a patella subluxation in his right knee back on February 27th. He threw off the mound yesterday for the first time since the injury. It was a very light intensity workout.

Farrell is not saying how much time E-Rod will miss but he does say they will not hurry the process of getting the talented lefty healthy.

Red Sox opening day is now just 19 days away, when the Red Sox play at Cleveland on Monday April 4th. Remember you can catch all the regular season games and select Spring Training games on AM 1370 WDEA. Our next Spring Training game is Saturday March 19th at 1 PM
