Fire crews were called to the Family Dollar on State Street Monday morning. Assistant Fire Chief Anthony Riitano said a fire department plow truck driver noticed smoke coming from the building and called it in. It took crews about 15 to 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.

The intersection of State Street and Broadway had to be shut down while crews worked at the scene. At about 3:40 p.m. on Monday a dispatcher with the Bangor Police Department said the street was back open.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire. No word on where the fire started or the extent of the damage. No one was hurt.
