Emma and Baby Oskar Fundraiser

The Emma and Baby Oskar vs. Cancer Harvest Dinner & Dance will be held on Friday, November 27th, 2015 at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor from 5:00-10:00 PM..

In May of this year, Bar Harbor native and Woolwich resident, Emma Nelson (Emma Dyer) and her husband Zachary were overjoyed with the news that they were pregnant with their second child, a little boy named Oskar.

By the end of July, Emma began to have an incredibly difficult time breathing and admitted herself into an ER to find out what was the matter. Six weeks and countless tests later, Emma was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive lymphoma. Her oncologist says that her chances of winning this battle are excellent with an aggressive course of chemo spanning two years with little risk to baby Oskar. Already on the second course of treatment, both Emma and Oskar are doing very well, but medical and living expenses are piling up as the Nelsons are having to miss work for doctors appointments and to care for their baby girl, Adelaide.

The Harvest Dinner & Dance to raise funds for Emma and her family will begin with a meal provided by local families and restaurants from 5:00-6:30, followed by a performance by Maine classic rock cover band, Whoopy Kat from 7:00-10:00. A raffle will be running throughout the evening with a variety of items to choose from. Suggested donation is $10 per person, $15 per family.
