The Ellsworth High School Softball Team traveled to Old Town on Saturday, April 29th and came away with a 3-1 extra inning victory over the Coyotes.

It was scoreless going into the top of the 8th inning, when the Eagles erupted for 3 runs! Trinity Montigny started off the inning with a bunt down the 1st base line for a single. Leah Stevens slapped the ball advancing Montigny to 2nd, and hustling all the way, beat the throw to 1st. Both runners advanced a base on a passed ball, giving the Eagles runners on 3rd and 2nd with no one out. Hannah Sargent singled to right, scoring Montigny and moving Stevens to 3rd. Sargent stole 2nd, and then Mariah Young lined a single to right-centerfield, scoring Stevens and moving Sargent to 3rd.

Callie Hammer hit a hard shot to 3rd, and Sargent was able to scamper back to 3rd avoiding the tag, and Hammer was safe at 1st. Katie Hammer drove a fly ball to center scoring Sargent on the sacrifice fly.

Olivia Albert homered in the bottom of the 8th to bring Old Town within 2 runs but the Eagles escaped without further damage to take the 3-1 victory.
