Ellsworth Teen Arrested For Alleged School Shooting Threat

A 19-year-old Ellsworth man is in jail after police were alerted to a possible school shooting threat.

Ellsworth Police Chief Glenn Moshier says their department was notified by the FBI's Bangor office about a possible school shooting threat. S/A Raymond Georgen of the FBI reported that they learned of the alleged threat through a Denmark company that hosts the popular mobile game Clash of Clans. The company provided the FBI with a copy of the threatening posts, as well as the IP address that the user was most recently logged onto.

Using that IP address, police were able to track the user to a local residence that they were familiar with. Officers spoke with a 19-year-old man who lives in the home with his mother and 17-year-old brother, and eventually arrested him. 19-year-old Michael Allen of Ellsworth is now charged with terrorizing and violation of conditional release. He's being held at the Hancock County Jail.

Moshier says the Ellsworth Police Department has been in contact with and will continue to work with the Hancock County District Attorney's Office and the Ellsworth School Department to ensure the safety and security of their students and faculty as it pertains to this threat.
