The Ellsworth Eagles Baseball Team swept Washington Academy on Tuesday May 1st, winning two 5 inning games by the score of 8-0 and 17-0 at Ellsworth High School.

In the 1st game Ellsworth scored 2 runs in the 1st inning, and then 6 in the 2nd inning batting around. Austin Baron had 2 singles, Bradly Smith and Jackson Curtis each banged out a double. Jack Lee, Jared Hamilton, Matt Burnett, and Tyler Michell each had a single.

Burnett was the winning pitcher for Ellsworth, limiting Washington Academy to just 2 hits. He struck out 8 and didn't walk any.

In the 2nd game Bradly Smith tossed a no-hitter, striking out 6. Only 2 Raiders reached base in the game, 1 via an error the other after being hit by a pitch.

The Eagles batted around in the 1st and 2nd innings. They scored 6 runs in the 1st, 5 in the 2nd and 6 more runs in the 4th inning.

Austin Baron and Jackson Curtis each had 3 singles. Jared Hamilton doubled twice. Jack Lee had a single and double. Bradly Smith, Riley Grindle, Devin Grindle and Ethan Kane all had a single.

Ellsworth is now 5-1. They will host Presque Isle in a double header on Saturday, May 5th. The games were originally scheduled to be played up at Presque Isle, but the field conditions necessitated the change in venue.

Washington Academy is 1-3 and will host Old Town on Saturday, May 5th at 12 Noon.
