The Ellsworth Eagles trailed by 10 points at the end of the 1st Quarter and trailed most of the game, taking the lead with just a couple of minutes left and held on to stun the Washington Academy Raiders 62-58 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Thursday, January 18th.

The Raiders jumped out to a 25-15 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter as Jim Lin had 12 points with 3 3-pointers. Milan Filipovich had 7 points and Kyle Case, Banden Allard and David Agyemang all had 2 points. For Ellsworth Jackson Curtis had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Bradly Smith and Sam Giffin each had a 3-pointer and Zach Harris and Jared Hamilton each had 2 points.

After both teams combined for 40 points in the 1st Quarter the teams scored only 8 points in the first 4 minutes of the 2nd Quarter. Ellsworth outscored Washington Academy 10-4 to cut WA's lead to 4 points, 29-25. Devin Grindle coming off the bench had 6 points for Ellsworth, and Jared Hamilton and Javon Williams each had  2 points for Ellsworth. For the Raiders Ageymang and Filipovich each had 2 points.

Washington Academy increased their lead to 6 points at the end of the 3rd Quarter 43-37. Lin, Case, and Filipovich each had 4 points for the Raiders and Ageymang had 2 points. For Ellsworth Zach Harris had  points with a 3-pointer, Connor Crawford had a 3-pointer, and Grindle and Hamilton had 2 points each.

In the 4rth Quarter Ellsworth made their free throws count, going 9-11 from the line. Curtis had 9 points with a 3-pointer and 6-6 from the free throw line. Darby Barry had 8 points, draining 2 3-pointers and going 2-3 from the free throw line. Zach Harris had 6 points, with a 3-pointer and going 1-2 from the free throw line. Jared Hamilton also chipped in 2 points. For Washington Academy Case had 11 points with 2 3-pointers, and Nevin Rhodes and Filipovich had 2 points each.

Ellsworth was led by Jackson Curtis with 14 points and Zach Harris had 13 points. Devin Grindle, Darby Berry and Jared Hamilton each had 8 points. The Eagles were 11-16 from the free throw line.

Washington Academy was led by Kyle Case with 17 points, Jim Lin had 16 points and Milan Filipovich had 15 points. The Raiders were 3-8 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 6-5 and will play at the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday, January 20th with a  1PM tip-off with the pregame starting at 12:45 on AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device
