Ellsworth Softball Playoff Game Tuesday

The Ellsworth Softball Team will host Gardiner, Tuesday, June 7th at 4 PM in the Class B Prelim Softball game. Ellsworth, the #5 seed comes in with a 11-5 record, while the Gardiner Tigers are the 11th seed with a 8-8 record. The game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Ellsworth and Gardiner did not meet in the regular season, as Ellsworth is a member of the  Penobscot Valley Conference, and Gardiner is a member of the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference. The two conferences do not play any crossover games.

Kate Whitney is the workhorse pitcher for the Eagles. During the regular season she threw 93 innings, allowing 71 hits, walking 25 and striking out 111. She was 10-4 on the year with a 2.11 ERA.

Leading hitters for the Eagles include Callie Hammer with a .482 Batting Average, Caitlin Bean with a .439 Batting Average and Breann Cummings with a .412 Batting Average. Hammer and Cummings lead the team with 6 doubles. Hammer has 2 triples and Hammer and Katie Bagley each have a home run on the season. The Eagles are 41-42 in steal attempts. Leah Stevens leads the team with 15 steals, while Bagley has 8 and Bean has 5.
