A long bus ride is always better when you come away with a win, and such was the case for the Ellsworth High School Softball Team, as they defeated Washington Academy in East Machias on Tuesday, May 24th 16-6.

Sammy Mason pitched the complete game for Ellsworth for the win, allowing 3 hits, walking 7 and striking out 2.

Leah Stevens was 4-5 with 4 singles and 2 runs batted in. Hannah Sargent was 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles while Mariah Young also went 3-5 with 2 doubles and a single and drove in 3 runs. Katie Hammer also was 3-5, with 2 doubles and 2 stolen bases and a run batted in. Shelby Cote, Trinity Montigny and Katelynn Bagley also had 1 run batted in.

The Eagles are now 8-5 and play host to Foxcroft Academy on Saturday, May 27th at 12 Noon.

Washington Academy is 6-7 and plays host to Sumner Memorial High School  on Saturday, May 27th at 1 PM.
