According to published reports by Fenceviewer, Ellsworth City Manager has selected  Maine State Police Lieutenant Christopher Coleman to be the new Ellsworth Police Chief beginning October 1st.

Coleman is no stranger to the area, as he is a resident of Surry. Currently he is the leader of the Northern Division of Maine State Police's Major Crime's Unit, and prior to that, was the Commander of the Troop J State Police barracks in Ellsworth. Troop J covers Hancock and Washington Counties.

Coleman's appointment is subject to the Ellsworth City Council's approval, and that will be on the September 15th agenda.

According to the published reports, there were 22 applicants for former Chief John DeLeo's position, and the search committee interviewed 7, and 4 were called back for second interviews.

Lt. Harold Page will continue as acting chief until Coleman takes over on October 1st.
