Ellsworth Girl’s Season Ends

The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball season came to an end, as they lost 39-33 to Gardiner in a Class B Prelim game at Katsiaficas Gymnasium on Tuesday, February 10th.

Gardiner led 9-6 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Morgan Carver scored 5 points including a 3 pointer, Mary Toman had 2 points and Logan Granholm and Megan Perry each had 1 point for the Gardiner Tigers. Emily Berry had 2 points, Hailee Langley had 2 points and Maddie Card and Samantha Mason each had 1 point for Ellsworth.

At the end of the 1st Half, Gardiner was up 20-18. Carver had 5 points in the 2nd Quarter including another 3 pointer, while Toman, Megan Perry and Ellie Luken each had 2 points for Gardiner. For Ellsworth, Mason had 6 points, Berry had 4 points and Card had 2 points.

The game was knotted up at 29-29 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Caitlin Bean had 5 points for Ellsworth including a 3-pointer. Berry, Card and Mason each had 2 points for the Eagles. Gardiner's Carver had 6 points, including her 3rd 3-pointer of the night. Logan Granholm also added a 3-pointer for the Tigers.

In the 4th Quarter, Gardiner outscored Ellsworth 10-4. Lauren Chadwich had 4 points, Perry had 3 points, Carver had 2 points and Granholm had 1 point for Gardiner. Ellsworth got 2 points each from Bean and Langley.

Gardiner was led by Morgan Carver who had a game high 18 points. Megan Perry had 6 points. Gardiner went 9-19 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Samantha Mason with 9 points while Emily Berry had 8 points while Caitlin Bean had 7 points. Ellsworth was just 4-20 from the free throw line.

Gardiner is now 8-11 on the season, and will play #1 seed MDI on Saturday at 3 PM in a game that will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio. Ellsworth finishes their season at 11-8.
