The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball Team traveled to Bangor on Saturday, December 14th to play the John Bapst Crusaders at the Cross Insurance Center, and lost 36-35 at the buzzer on a controversial play.

Ellsworth led 35-33 with 1.8 seconds left in overtime. John Bapst inbounded the ball and had to go the length of the court. Bapst passed the balls twice and Karrie O'Donnell banked in a 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded. Ellsworth Coach Andy Pooler was irate, claiming that the clock had not started when the John Bapst player first touched the ball and the shot should have not counted. The three officials met at mid court, after chatting with the timekeeper, and ruled that the shot counted, and that John Bapst won.
