The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball Team played their worst half of basketball all season, and consequently found themselves down by 22 points 35-13 on Saturday, January 30th at the Cross Insurance Center. The Eagles outscored John Bapst 12-1 in the 3rd Quarter but the deficit was just too much for them to overcome, as they fell 57-47 to the Crusaders.

In the 1st Quarter, Hannah Philippon had 6 points, Madi Higgins had 4 points and Grace Philippon and Crystal Bell each had 3 points while Caileigh Lebel had 2 points for the Crusaders. Samantah Mason and Kate Whiteny each had 2 points for Ellsworth.

In the 2nd Quarter, the Crusaders outscored Ellsworth 17-9 to take a 35-13 lead at the end of the 1st half. Crystal Bell had 8 points, Hannah Philippon had 7 points and Madi Higgins had 1 point for John Bapst. Hannah Sargent had a 3-pointer for Ellsworth and Katelynn Bagley, Madison Card, and Callie Hammer each has 2 points for the Eagles.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored John Bapst 12-1. The Eagles rebounded and boxed out, and their press caused John Bapst to commit numerous turnovers. Whitney had 4 points for Ellsworth while Card had a 3-pointer, and Sargent and Mason each had 2 points while Caitlin Bean had 1 point for the Eagles. Hannah Philippon had the Crusader's lone point.

In the 4th Quarter, John Bapst was 14-19 from the free throw line. Crystal Bell scored 7 points, Abbey Legasse had 5 points, Grace Philippon had 4 points and Hannah Philippon and Caileigh Lebel each had 2 points. For Ellsworth, Card had 10 points including 2 3-pointers and Whitney had 4 points including a 3-pointer, Bean had 4 points and Mason and Hammer each had 2 points for the Eagles.

Ellsworth was led by Madison Card with 15 points while Kate Whitney had 10 points and Samantha Mason had 6 points. The Eagles were 4-12 from the free throw line.

John Bapst was led by Crystal Bell with 19 points and Hannah Philippon with 16 points. The Crusaders were 26-37 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 11-6 and will play host to MDI on Wednesday, February 3rd on Senior Night, in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

John Bapst is now 10-6 and plays host to Washington Academy on Tuesday, February 2nd and then closes out the regular season against Hermon on Thursday, February 4th at the Cross Insurance Center.
