Whenever Ellsworth and MDI play each other, no matter what the sport, it's a hard fought game. You can throw out the records, when these two schools meet it's a great rivalry, on the field or court, but off the field, there is mutual respect, and friendship.

That was the case last night, when the MDI Girls traveled to Ellsworth to play the Eagles in an early soccer clash. It was a great game, with Ellsworth coming away with the victory, 1-0 on a goal scored by Katy Curtis off a flip throw by Emily Berry with 8:28 left in the first half.

Ellsworth controlled the first half of the contest with 12 shots on goal. The second half started strongly for MDI, they had ample opportunity, having 8 corners in the second half, and a couple of point blank shots on goal, but Ellsworth's goalie Callie Hammer came up big for the Eagles, to preserve the shutout.

Hannah Shaw was in goal for MDI.

With the victory, Ellsworth improves to 5-1-1. Up next for the Eagles are games against Old Town on Tuesday October 1st at home at 6 PM, home against Hermon on Thursday, October 3 at 6 PM and then a trip to the County to play Caribou on Saturday, October 5th at 1 PM.
