The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball team defeated Washington Academy 53-29 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Wednesday January 20th.

Ellsworth led 11-1 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Samantha Mason had 7 points for the Eagles, including a 3-pointer, Madison Card had 3 points and Kate Whitney had 1 point. For Washington Academy Nicole Mitchell had their lone point.

Washington Academy outscored Ellsworth 12-8 in the 2nd Quarter, but Ellsworth led at the end of the 1st Half 19-13. Caitlyn Lyons had 5 points for Washington Academy, Lydia Day had 3 points and Jaiden Veal and Paige Richardson had 2 points each. For Ellsworth, Whitney and Card each had 3-pointers and Caitlin Bean had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, Washington Academy got within 3 points, but Ellsworth went on a run, and clamped down defensively, and led 33-19 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth outscored Washington Academy 20-10. Hannah Sargent had 8 points, including 2 3-pointers, Katelynn Bagley and Card each had 4 points, and Hammer and Whitney had 2 points each for the Eagles. For Washington Academy Rylea Steeves had a 3-pointer, Lyons and Veal each had 3 points and Becken Barker had 1 point.

Ellsworth was led by Sammy Mason with 14 points while Madison Card had 10 points and Kate Whitney had 8 points. Ellsworth was 6-13 from the free throw line.
