This Tuesday, September 11th, marks the 17th anniversary of the day America was attacked, The Ellsworth Fire Department will hold a remembrance ceremony at 8:46 AM to memorialize those who perished at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in rural Pennsylvania.

8:46 AM marks the exact time that American Airlines Flight 11 with 92 souls on board, crashed into the North Trade Center in New York. At 9:03 AM United Airlines Flight 175 with 62 souls on board struck thee South Tower. At 9:38 AM American Airlines Flight 77 with 64 souls on board crashed into the Pentagon. At 10:04 AM United Flight 93 with 44 souls on board, headed for the US Capital, crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The Ellsworth Fire Department believes that we cannot forget what happened on that fateful day on September 11, 2001. We must remember thee 2,977 people who died that day, all the families who were affected. By remembering what happened 17 years ago, we can guard against similar attacks occurring in the future.
