The Ellsworth Eagles traveled to Dover-Foxcroft Friday, May 9th to take on the Foxcroft Academy Ponies and lost 7-2, as Foxcroft Academy scored 7 runs in the first 2 innings.

With 1 out in the 1st inning, Ellsworth's pitcher, Hunter Cote allowed 4 consecutive hits, including a double by Carroll, and a passed ball and Foxcroft Academy had 4 runs on the scoreboard.

In the 2nd inning the Ponies added 3 more runs. Church bunted his way on base and stole second. Brooks Law was hit by a pitch and Hunter Law singled, scoring Church.. Both runners  (Law and Law) advanced on stolen bases, and scored when Luke Olsen reached on an error by the Ellsworth shortstop.

Ellsworth added 2 runs in the top of the 4th inning. Mitchell Domagala tripled and scored on Hunter Cote's single. Cote stole 2nd, and reached 3rd when Silas Davis grounded to 1st. Cote scored when Steven Mahon singled for his 3rd hit of the game.

Ellsworth would only manage 2 more hits in the game, as Foxcroft Academy's pitcher, Simpson, threw a complete game, allowing only 2 earned runs, 9 hits, striking out 6 and walking 2.

For Ellsworth, Hunter Cote pitched the first 3 innings, allowing 7 runs, 4 of which were earned, 7 hits and he walked 2 while striking out 3. Nick Bagley pitched 3 scoreless innings in relief, allowing 2 hits, striking out 3 and didn't walk anyone.

Ellsworth is now 2-4 on the season. They play in Bangor against John Bapst on Tuesday, May 13th at 3:30 and then a doubleheader in Caribou on Saturday, May 17th at 12 noon and 2 PM.

Foxcroft Academy is 4-3  on the season. They play at home Tuesday, May 13th at 4:30 when they will play Old Town.
