The Ellsworth Eagles defeated the Caribou Vikings 2-1 in a homecoming soccer match played at Del Luce Stadium on Saturday, September 20th, in a very physical match, that saw Ellsworth receive 4 yellow cards and 1 red card.

The Eagles  got on the board first when Conor Maguire scored with an assist from Dagan Berenyi at the 12:16 mark.  Lukas Firestone scored a goal with assists from Valter Moeller and Anthony Gardner at the 5:20 mark, making it 2-0 at the end of the first half.  Bruce St. Peter had 2 saves for the Eagles and Ethan Plourde had 5 saves for Caribou.

In the second half Nick Bagley was in goal for Ellsworth and Plourde was still in goal for Caribou.  Michael Hunter scored Caribou's lone goal at the 18:37 mark.  Nick Bagley had 0 saves for Ellsworth and Plourde had 11 saves for Caribou in the second half.

With the victory, Ellsworth remains unbeaten at 5-0, and are just one of two unbeaten and untied teams in Class B, Foxcroft Academy being the other. The Eagles host Presque Isle, Tuesday, September 23 at 5:30 PM and at Hermon on Saturday, September 27th at 12 Noon. Caribou falls to 1-4-1 and plays at Old Town, Tuesday, September 23rd at 3:30 and at MDI on Saturday, September 27th at 3 PM.
