The third time was finally the charm, as Ellsworth and Caribou were rained out twice, and Wednesday, May 21st the two teams were finally able to meet in Caribou, and the result was that Ellsworth defeated Caribou in the first game 7-3 before Caribou bounced back in the second game to defeat Ellsworth 3-2.

In the 1st game, Caribou scored first in the bottom of the 1st inning as the Vikings scored 2 runs without the benefit of a hit as Michael Hunter and Matt Milliard both walked. They would score on a fly out and an error on the Ellsworth shortstop.

Ellsworth got one run back in the top of the 2nd inning as Sid St. Peter homered to start the inning!

Ellsworth tied the game in the top of the 5th inning. Nick Bagley walked and advanced to 2nd when Silas Davis sacrificed him along. Steven Mahon drove Bagley in with a double, and at the end of 5 innings it was tied 2-2.

Caribou took the lead in the bottom of the 6th inning when Matt Milliard reached on an error, and then scored on a fly out to left field by Cody Hebert.

Ellsworth came up at the top of the 7th inning needing 1 run to tie. Cooper Henderson walked and advanced to 3rd when Hunter Cote doubled. Henderson scored when Nick Bagley reached base, and then Conor Maguire's single drove in Bagley and Mahon. Sid St. Peter's single drove in Brandon Braley, and Ellsworth had plated 5 runs.

Hunter Cote picked up the win for Ellsworth, pitching 7 innings, allowing 3 runs, all unearned, and giving up just 2 hits while striking out 5 and walking 5.

In Game 2 Ellsworth scored first in the top of the 1st inning. Steven Mahon walked and stole second and third and scored when Brandon Braley reached on an error.

Caribou scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, when Michael Hunter and Dustin Bouchard reached base on back to back walks. Both Hutner and Bouchard scored when Matt Milliard doubled, and after 4 innings Caribou led 2-1.

Ellsworth tied the score in the top of the 6th inning. Conor Maguire reached on a fielder's choice, and reached 3rd base on a double by Brandon Braley. Maguire then scored on a fly out by Sid St. Peter.

Caribou won the game in the bottom of the 7th inning. Dylan Berkoski doubled, and advanced to 3rd base on Shane Landeen's single. Michael Hunter then singled, scoring Berkoski, giving Caribou the walk off win.

Charlie Libby pitched a complete game for Ellsworth, allowing 3 runs, all earned, 5 hits, 4 walks and struck out 3.

Shawn Sadler picked up the win for Caribou, allowing 2 runs, both earned, 6 hits, walked 1 and struck out 5.

Ellsworth is now 4-6 and plays at Old Town Thursday, May 22nd at 4:30 and then at Washington Academy on Friday, May 23rd at 4:30.

Caribou is 5-4 on the season, and plays host to Hermon in a doubleheader Saturday, May 24th at 12 and 2 PM.
