Ellsworth Boys Shut Out Bapst 8-0 [PHOTOS]
It was Senior Night for the Ellsworth Boy's Soccer team, their last regular season played at home, and the boys went out in style, pouring in 8 goals, as they shut out John Bapst 8-0 on Thursday, October 10th.
The first goal of the night was by senior, Jake Jordan. One of the best goals of the entire season. Standing just left of the 18 yard line, Jordan hit it with the outside of his foot while falling and it flew over the John Bapst's Bach Nguyen's head and hit off the opposite cross bar into the net. He scored at 35:57 with an assist from Anthony Gardner.
Soon after, senior, Anthony Gardner scored a goal of his own at the 31:30 mark with an assist from, senior, Jack Weeks. At 15:18 in the first half, senior, Brady White took a direct kick and scored Ellsworth's third goal. Ellsworth led at the end of the first half 3-0.
In the second half, senior, Valter Moeller started the Eagles off with a goal at 37:50. Jack Weeks then scored at 32:48. Senior, Griffin Nightingale got a chance to score when he took a direct kick for Ellsworth at 16:40. At 8:58, junior, Alex Braley score the only goal not by a senior of the night. Finally, Conor Maguire scored one last goal for Ellsworth, making it 8-0 with 4:01 left in the game.
Bruce St. Peter started in goal for Ellsworth with 2 saves and Nick Bagley finished in goal with 2 saves as well. Bach Nguyen played in goal for John Bapst with 9 saves until Josh Burleigh took over for him with just sixteen minutes left and had 1 save.
Ellsworth is now 11-0 on the season. The Eagle's final games of the season are all away; At Foxcroft Academy Tuesday October 14th at 4 PM, at Caribou on Saturday, October 18th at 3 PM and then at MDI against the Trojans on Tuesday October 21 at 6 PM.
John Bapst is 3-9 on the season. The Crusaders close out the season at home with games against the MDI Trojans on Monday, October 13th at 4 PM and Saturday, October 18th against Presque Isle at 1 PM.
