The Ellsworth Boy's Basketball Team fell to Washington Academy on Thursday, January 19th in East Machias 62-53.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 8-7 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Zack Harris and Trent Mahon had 3-pointers and Jared Hamilton chipped in with 2 points for the Eagles. For Washington Academy Kyle Case had a 3-pointer, and Yantz Sutton and Justin Su had 2 points each.

The score was knotted 19-19 at the end of the 1st Half. For Ellsworth Harris drained another 3-pointer. Bryce Harmon had 3 points, Jackson Curtis and Trent Mahon had 2 points and Jared Hamilton had 1 point for the Eagles. For the Raiders, Tim Tseng had a 3-pointer, Sean Seavey each had 2 points while Jim Lin and Kyle Case were 2-2 from the free throw line and Justin Villone was 1-2 from the charity stripe.

In the 3rd Quarter, Washington Academy outscored Ellsworth, 19-13 to take a 38-32 lead. Washington Academy was led by Kyle Case who sank 3 3-pointers in a row for 9 points. Sean Seavey and Yantz Smith had 4 points each and Justin Villone had 2 points for the Raiders. For Ellsworth, Brycy Harmon had 4 points, Harris a 3-pointer and Dylan Taplin, Jared Hamilton and Jackson Curtis chipped in with 2 points each.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth drew within a handful of points, as they sank 5 3-pointers, but Washington Academy was 9-12 from the free throw line to secure the win. For Ellsworth Taplin had 8 points with 2 3-pointers, Zach Harris had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Bryce Harmon had 4 points with a 3-pointer and Sam Giffin had a 3-pointer. Jackson Curtis was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Washington Academy Justin Su had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Yantz Sutton had 6 points(2-2 from the free throw line), Kyle Case had 5 points (4-5 from the free throw line), Jim Lin 4 points (2-2 from the free throw line), Sean Seavey had 4 points and Justin Villone was 1-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Zach Harris with 14 points, while Bryce Harmon had 11 points and Dylan Taplin had 10 points. Ellsworth was 6-10 from the free throw line.

Washington Academy was led by Kyle Case with a game high 18 points, Yantz Sutton had 14 points and Sean Seavey had 10 points. Washington Academy was 14-20 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 6-5 and plays at Orono on Saturday, January 21st at 7 PM.

Washington Academy is 7-4 and plays at the Cross Insurance Center on Monday, January 23rd at 7 PM against the John Bapst Crusaders.
