Ellsworth Boys Beat Presque Isle 50-42

The Ellsworth Boys Basketball team defeated Presque Isle 50-42, Friday night, December 27th at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth.

Ellsworth jumped out to a early 17-11 lead in the 1st Quarter. Brandon Braley, Bryce Harmon and Nick Bagley all drained 3-pointers for Ellsworth, while Cody Lyford hit one for Presque Isle. Bagley had 5 points in the quarter for Ellsworth, and Bruce St. Peter added 4.

In the 2nd Quarter Bagley hit another 3-pointer for Ellsworth, and Bradley Shields added 4 points for Presque Isle. At the half, Ellsworth led 24-22.

In the 3rd Quarter, Presque Isle took a 31-29 lead. as they outscored Ellsworth 9-5. Presque Isle received 2 points each from Chase Norton, Karson Eaton, Drew Bates and Bradley Shields. Harmon and Bagley each had two points for Ellsworth.

In the 4th Quarter Ellsworth heated up. Nick Bagley hit his third 3-pointer of the night and went 4-4 from the free throw line. Steven Mahon added 6 points including a 3-pointer and Bruce St. Peter added 6 points for Ellsworth. Eaton hit a 3-pointer for Presque Isle and Cody Lyford added 4 points for the Wildcats. Ellsworth outscored Presque Isle 21-11 in the 4th Quarter.

With the victory, Ellsworth improves to 4-1 and will play host to undefeated Caribou Saturday afternoon, December 28th. Presque Isle falls to 2-4 and travels to MDI to play the 4-1 MDI Trojans.
