Long bus rides are tough, but they're made much better when you come away with a win! That was the case on Friday night, October 14th when the Ellsworth Eagles traveled to Millinocket and defeated the Stearns Minutemen 14-12!

Ellsworth first possession of the game saw them marching down the field, taking 9 minutes to do so, but the drive stalled on the 4 yard line and they were forced to turn the ball over on downs.

That was the closest either team came to scoring in the 1st Half, and it ended with the score tied 0-0.

Ellsworth kicked off to Steans and the Minutemen scored to make it 6-0.

Ellsworth received the ensuing kickoff and marched down the field. They scored when Jacob Shorey ran the ball in. Connor Crawford's pass to Chris Fickett was good for the 2 point conversion, and Ellsworth led 8-6.

Stearns scored on their next possession, making it 12-8.

Stearns' kickoff went to Declan White who returned it to the end zone for a 70 yard TD return. The extra point was no good, and Ellsworth was up 14-12

Stearns had a chance to win the game, with 5 seconds remaining in the game, but their pass into the end zone was batted down, and the Eagles were victorious!

Jacob Shorey ended the night with 35 carries and 154 yards with a touchdown. Connor Crawford had 11 carries for 63 yards. He was also 2-5 passing for 20 yards. Andrew Brown had 9 carries for a tough 11 yards, and caught both of Crawford's passes for 20 receiving yards. Declan White had 3 carries for 10 yards.

Ellsworth is now 2-5 with their remaining two games at home. On Friday October 21st they will play MCI and prior to the game, the football field will be dedicated to Tug White, being named the Tug White Memorial Football Field. On Friday October 28th the Eagles conclude the season with Senior Recognition Night against the Bucksport Golden Bucks.
