Ellsworth Baseball Falls to Hermon 5-3

In the opening game for both the Ellsworth Eagles and the Hermon Hawks, the Hermon Hawks defeated Ellsworth 5-3 on a windy afternoon in Hermon on Saturday, April 20th.

Hermon scored 1st in the bottom of the 1st to take a 1-0 lead. Ellsworth got on the scoreboard in the top of the 3rd to tie the score 1-1. Hermon scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, as Will Perkins hit a home run, driving in 2 runs, and Hermon took a 4-1 lead. Ellsworth scored twice in the top of the 4th to make the score 4-3 but that was the closest they would get. Hermon pushed across an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th, and ended up with the win 5-3.

Cody Del Conte started the game for Ellsworth and went 4 innings, allowing 4 hits, 4 runs, 3 of them earned and striking out 1 while allowing 3 walks. He was relieved by Hunter Cote who pitched 2 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 run which was unearned, walking none and striking out 3. Jared Cox pitched a complete game for Hermon allowing 8 hits, 3 runs, 1 of which was earned and struck out 7 while giving up 4 walks. Ellsworth and Hermon each had 2 errors.

Hermon's Will Perkins hit a home run and Josh Wilson had a double. Ellsworth left 7 runners on base and Hermon left 4 on base.
