In one of the final games played in the 2014-15 Basketball Season, the Ellsworth Eagles defeated MDI 62-57 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth. Both teams knew that the result was meaningless, in that the two teams would meet again on Wednesday, February 11th in a prelim game, but you couldn't tell that on the court or in the stands, as the players and fans were into the game, and the MDI-Ellsworth rivalry was alive and evident!

MDI jumped out to an early lead, but Ellsworth took the lead at the end of the 1st Quarter 11-9. Bruce St. Peter had 6 points, Nick Bagley had 4 points including a 3-pointer and Alex Braley had 1 point for Ellsworth.  For MDI, Graham Good had 4 points, Aaron Snurkowski had a 3-pointer for 3 points, and Russell Kropff had 2 points.

At the half, Ellsworth was up 27-23. Braley had 8 points in the 2nd Quarter including 2 3-pointers, Zac Harris had 3 points, St. Peter had 2 points, and Bagley, Mitchell Domagala and Conor Maguire each had 1 point for Ellsworth. In the 2nd Quarter, Ellsworth was 6-10 from the free throw line. For MDI, Drew Rich had 5 points, Andrew Phelps, Riley Swanson, Snurkowski and Kropff had 2 points and Gus Reeves had 1 point in the quarter.

At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth led 45-41. Braley had 5 points, including a 3-pointer, Bagley had 5 points including a 3-pointer, St. Peter and Derek Look had 3 points each and Bryce Harmon had 2 points for the Eagles.  For MDI Kropff had 6 points, Good had 5 points, James O'Donnell had 5 points and Snurkowski 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth went 13-19 from the free throw line. Conor Maguire had 6 points, Bagley 4 points, St. Peter 4 points and Braley 3 points. For MDI, Phelps had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Kropff had 4 points, Good 3 points and Reeves and Snurkowski each had 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Alex Braley with a game high 17 points, while Bruce St. Peter had 15 points and Nick Bagley had 14 points. The Eagles ended up 23-38 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Russell Kropff with 14 points, while Graham Good had 12 points and Aaron Snurkowski had 9 points. The Trojans were 11-15 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth finished the regular season at 13-5 and are the #5 seed. They will play host to MDI on Wednesday, February 11th at 7 PM. MDI 5-13 is the #12 seed. The winner of the Ellsworth-MDI game on the 11th, will go to the Cross Insurance Center and play on Saturday, February 14th at 1:35 PM against the winner of the prelim game between Gardiner the #4 seed and Mt. View, the #13 seed.
