The Ellsworth Eagles Baseball Team picked up their first victory of the season, with a 6-5 victory over Washington Academy on Monday afternoon in Ellsworth.

Ellsworth scored in the bottom of the 1st inning, when Nicholas Bagley's single drove in Conor Maguire and Mitchell Domagala and Ellsworth had a 2-0 lead.

Washington Academy scored 2 runs in the top of the 3rd inning as Gage Feeney and Colin Pineo drove in runs. But, Ellsworth answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 3rd. Domagala was hit by a pitch, and Bagley drew a base on balls. Griffin Nightengale singled loading the bases. Devin Wright walked and Domagala scored, and Bagley scored when Chris Barnes grounded into a double play. After 3 innings Ellsworth was up 4-2.

The Raiders scored 3 in the top of the 4th inning to take a 5-4 lead. With 2 outs, Cameron Varney singled and stole 2 bases. Kyle Taylor walked and Feeney and Pineo singled

Ellsworth scored the winning run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Nightengale walked, stole 2nd and scored on Zach McGraw's single. Wright ran for McGraw and advanced to 3rd on a single by Jeff Weeks and scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Conor Maguire picked up the win for Ellsworth, pitching a complete game allowing 5 runs, 4 of which were earned. He gave up 9 hits and struck out 9 while walking 5.

Colin Pineo and Kyle Taylor pitched for Washington Academy, and combined they game up 6 runs, 5 of which were earned. They gave up 4 hits, walked 9 and struck out 3.

For Washington Academy Cameron Varney was 2-4, Gage Feeney was 2-4, Colin Pineo was 3-4 with a double, Kade Feeney was 1-3 and Spencer Johnson was 1-4.

For Ellsworth, Nicholas Bagley was 1-3, Griffen Nightengale was 1-1, Zach McGraw was 1-1 and Chris Barnes was 1-3.

Ellsworth is now 1-3 and plays at Old Town on Thursday, May 7th and hosts Foxcroft Academy on Friday May 8th.

Washington Academy is 2-3 and plays at Lee Academy  on Wednesday, May 6th and at Bucksport on Friday, May 8th
