The Ellsworth Eagles defeated the MDI Trojans in Bar Harbor on Wednesday, June 3rd, 6-2, eliminating any chance the Trojans had of sneaking into the 13th and final playoff spot.

Conor Maguire picked up the win for Ellsworth, pitching a 7 inning complete game. He allowed 6 hits, and 2 runs, both earned. He struck out 9 and didn't walk anyone.

Dyllan Collin took the loss for MDI. He pitched the first 3 innings, allowing 6 hits, 5 runs, 2 of which were earned. He didn't walk anyone and struck out 2. Thomas Paola pitched the final 4 innings, scattering 3 hits. He gave up 1 unearned run and walked 1 while striking out 6.

MDI scored 1st in the bottom of the 1st inning. Jack Sasner singled and stole 2nd. He advanced to 3rd on a sacrifice bunt by Nick Stanley and would later score.

Ellsworth answered in the top of the 2nd inning. Mitchell Domagala took a Collin's pitch and blasted it over the fence for a home run.Then with 2 outs, Charlie Libby singled and scored on Devin Wright's triple. That made the score 2-1 Ellsworth.

In the top of the 3rd Avery Anderson reached on an error with 1 out. He stole second, and scored on Nicholas Bagley's single. Mitchell Domagala reached on a fielder's choice whne Bagley was erased, and then Domagala scored on a double by Griffen Nightengale. Nightengale then scored on a single by Zack McGraw. That made the score 5-1.

Ellsworth added an insurance run in the top of the 4th inning. Wright struck out but reached 1st base after the ball got away from the MDI catcher. He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bradly Smith and then scored on an error.

MDI scored their 2nd and final run in the bottom of the 7th inning. Dylan Collin was hit by a pitch, and then scored on Ezra Johnson's double.

For Ellsworth Griffin Nightengale was 3-4, Zack McGraw was 2-4. Nicholas Bagley and Mitchell Domagala were 1-4. Charlie Libby and Devin Wright were 1-2

For MDI Jack Sasner was 1-4, Thomas Paola was 1-2, Stanley Grierson was 1-2, Cordell Soper was 1-2, Dylan Collin was 1-2, Riley Swanson was 1-3 and Ezra Johnson was 1-2

With the loss, MDI finished the season at 6-10. Ellsworth finishes the season at 9-7 and will finish the season either 6th, 7th or 8th as the final games are finished. They will play in a prelim game which will be at home against a team still to be determined.
