The Ellsworth Eagles Baseball team defeated John Bapst 11-1 in a mercy rule shortened game on Tuesday, May 19th in Ellsworth.

Bradly Smith picked up the win for Ellsworth, pitching 5 innings and scattering 4 hits. He struck out 4 and walked 3.

Harrison Dieuveuil took the loss for John Bapst. He pitched 3 innings allowing 10 runs, all earned on 6 hits. He walked 6 and struck out 2. Tom Hanscom pitched 1.1 innings of relief allowing 1 earned run, on 2 hits. He struck out 2 and walked 1.

In the bottom of the 1st inning Ellsworth scored 3 runs. Conor Maguire singled and stole 2nd base. Zack McGraw grounded out to 2nd base, advancing Maguire to 3rd base. Nicholas Bagley singled, scoring Maguire. Mitchell Domagala laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Bagley advanced to 2nd base. Griffin Nightengale singled, scoring Bagley. Nightengale stole 2nd base, and scored on Devin Wright's single.

Ellsworth added 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd as they sent 9 batters to the plate.They did it with just 2 hits, as Bagley and Wright scored on wild pitches. Ellsworth took advantage of 4 walks in the inning by Dieuveuil.

John Bapst scored their lone run in the top of the 4th inning. Southwick singled and stole 2nd. He came around to score on Jones' single.

Ellsworth added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 4th, without a hit. Jeff Weeks walked and stole 2nd base. Bagley walked but was erased when Domagala reached on a fielder's choice, moving Weeks to 3rd. Domagala stole 2nd, and then Nightengale grounded to 3rd, scoring Weeks, and advancing Domagala to 3rd. Domagala then scored Ellsworth's 10th run on a wild pitch.

Ellsworth scored their 11th run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Chris Barnes singled and then Avery Anderson, running for Barnes stole 2nd base. He scored on Conor Maguire's single, and the 10 run rule took effect and the game was over.

For Ellsworth Conor Maguire was 2-4 with a RBI. Nicholas Bagley was 1-1 with a RBI. Mitchell Domagala was 1-2 and Griffin Nightengale was 1-3 with 2 RBIs. Devin Wright was 1-1 with a RBI. Troy Folmer was 0-1 with a RBI.  Avery Anderson was 1-2 with 2 RBIs and Chris Barnes was 1-1.

For John Bapst, Southwick was 1-3, Jones was 1-2 with a RBI, Smith was 1-2 with a double and Harman was 1-1.

Ellsworth is now 7-4 on the season and have won 6 games in a row. Ellsworth hosts Old Town on Thursday, May 21 at 4:30 PM and then Washington Academy on Friday, May 22nd at 4:30 PM.

John Bapst is 3-9 and plays host to Hermon on Friday, May 22nd at 4:30
