On a bright, hot, sunny Saturday, the Ellsworth Eagles handed the Hermon Hawks only their 4th loss of the season, winning the game 3-2 on Senior Saturday, where the Ellsworth seniors were playing their last game at home. The win, jumped Ellsworth in the Heal Points, and now are in playoff contention with just 1 game remaining in the regular season!

Ellsworth jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning. With 2 out, Austin Baron singled. He scored on Jared Hamilton's single. Hamilton advanced to 2nd base on a wild pitch and then Nick Bagley's double drove in Hamilton.

It stayed that way until the the top of the 5th inning when Hermon scored a run. Alex Applebee singled and moved to 2nd base on a fielder's choice. He then scored on Tyler Beaton's double.

Hermon tied the score in the top of the 7th inning. Alex Applebee walked, and then back to back singles by Matt Leach and Mark Mailoux loaded the bases. Nick Guerrette walked, to drive in a run, but Christian Greener then struck out for the 3rd out with the bases loaded.

The score was tied 2-2 and the game went into extra innings.

In the bottom of the 8th inning Bradly Smith singled to start the inning. He advanced to 2nd base on a ground out by Jack Lee and then scored on Austin Baron's walk off single!

Nick Bagley pitched 7 innings for Ellsworth, allowing 2 runs, 1 of which was earned. He struck out 8 and walked 3. He gave up 8 hits. Avery Anderson pitched the scoreless 8th for the win.

Bach Nash took the tough luck loss for Hermon, pitching the complete game. He struck out 6, walked 2 and allowed 7 hits.

For Hermon Mark Mailoux and Justin Davis were both 2-4. Tyler Beaton had a double and Bach Nash, Alex Applebee and Matt Leach each had singles for the Hawks.

For Ellsworth, Nick Bagley was 2-4 with 2 doubles. Austin Baron was 2-4. Bradly Smith Jared Hamilton and Zach McGraw each had singles for the Eagles.

Ellsworth, now 5-10 will play their final regular season game on Tuesday, May 31 at 3:45 at MDI in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Hermon, 11-4 will play their final regular season game on Tuesday, May 31st at 4:30 at Foxcroft Academy.
