The Ellsworth JV Softball Team defeated Hermon on Saturday, winning 3-1 and are not 8-5 on the season.

In the top of the 1st inning, Ellsworth's Larissa Richards made an incredible catch in Centerfield for the final out of the inning to keep Hermon scoreless.

In the bottom of the 1st Katie Hammer reached first with a single up the middle. She then stole 2nd and 3rd. Hammer scored on Ellie Clarke's hit, that was scored an error. Ellsworth continued to run the bases well, as Clarke stole 2nd to get into scoring position. Mariah Young doubled, and Clarke scored to give Ellsworth a 2-0 lead at the end of the 1st inning.

It stayed that way until the top of the 4th inning when Hermon's Bee Lakes belted a home run to left center.

In the bottom of the 6th inning Ellie Clarke walked and stole 2nd base. She tried to steal 3rd but was gunned down. Mackenzie Chipman doubled and scored on Georgia Connell's hard shot to first base that resulted in a Hermon error. At the end of 6 innings, the Eagles led 3-1.

Hermon was threatening in the top of the 7th inning when Brie Oakes hit a line drive to the left field fence. Ellsworth's Isabelle Perry collected the ball at the fence, and threw a bullet to Sydney Stevens, the cut-off player. Stevens saw that Oakes was rounding 2nd going for a triple and threw to Mariah Young the 3rd baseman, who slapped the tag on Oakes for the out. Ellsworth's Mackenzie Chipman struck out the next two batters to preserved the win for the Eagles!
