EHS Girls Win 1st Game

The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball Team won their 1st game of the season on Tuesday, December 20th beating the Old Town Coyotes 45-36 at Mackenzie Gymnasium in Old Town.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 11-5 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Sammy Mason had 5 points and Katelynn Bagley, Trinity Montigny and Kacie Omlor each had 2 points for the Eagles. Olivia Albert had 3 points and Jenessa Brown had 2 points for the Coyotes.

Ellsworth increased their lead to 15 points at the end of the 1st Half, 25-10. Mason added 6 points, while Audrey Ward, Bagley, Hannah Sargent and Callie Hammer each added 2 points for the Eagles. For Old Town Brown had 3 points and Natalie St. Louis went 2-2 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth outscored Old Town 13-10 to take a 38-20 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Montigny drained a 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded for Ellsworth. Sargent scored 6 points, and Mason, and Hammer each added 2 points for the Eagles. For Old Town Brown had 6 points, St. Louis was 2-2 from the free throw line and Albert had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Claudia Damboise scored 7 points for Old Town and St. Louis had 7 points including a 3-pointer for the Coyotes. Mackenzie Folsom also had 2 points for the Coyotes. For Ellsworth, Mason had 3 points, Bagley had 2 points and Montigny and Sargent each went 1-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Sammy Mason who had a game high 16 points. Hannah Sargent had 9 points. Ellsworth was 6-14 from the free throw line.

Old Town was led by Natalie St. Louis and Jennessa Brown, each of whom had 11 points. Old Town was 5-9 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth, now 1-2 on the season will play at Hermon on Thursday, December 22nd in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Old Town 0-4 will play host to Caribou on Friday, December 23rd at 3:30 PM.
