In what may be a precursor of the prelim game on February 14th, the Ellsworth Girl's Basketball beat John Bapst 60-52 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth.

John Bapst took a 15-12 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Tia Zephir had 7 points with a 3-pointer, Abbey Legasse had 4 points with a 3-pointer and Gracie Philippon and Crystal Bell had 2 points each for the Crusaders. For Ellsworth Hannah Sargent and Sammy Mason had 4 points each, while Trinity Montigny and Kacie Omlor had 2 points each.

Ellsworth took the lead at the Half, 28-25 after outscoring John Bapst 16-10 in the 2nd Quarter. For Ellsworth, Katelynn Bagley, Trinity Montigny and Kacie Omlor had 4 points each while Sammy Mason and Callie Hammer chipped in 2 points each for the Eagles. For the Crusaders, Philippon had 4 points while Tiana Cyr, Abbey Legasse and Crystal Bell each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth increased their lead to 12 points, outscoring John Bapst 19-10 in the 3rd Quarter and make the score 47-35. For Ellsworth, Sammy Mason had 10 points with 2 3-pointers,  Trinity Montigny had 7 points with a 3-pointer and Kacie Omlor had 2 points. For John Bapst Gracie Philippon had 6 points while Madi Higgins and Crystal Bell each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter the Crusaders outscored Ellsworth 17-13, but were never able to close the lead to below 3 points. Philippon had 11 points in the 4th Quarter for the Crusaders, while Crystal Bell had a 3-pointer and Tiana Cyr had 2 points and Tia Zephyr 1 point. For Ellsworth Montigny had 6 points, while Bagley, Omlor and Mason had 2 points each and Callie Hammer chipped in 1 point.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with 19 points while Sammy Mason had 18 points and Kacie Omlor had a career high 10 points. Ellsworth was 7-11 from the free throw line.

John Bapst was led by Gracie Philippon with a game high 23 points while Crystal Bell had 9 points. John Bapst was 8-14 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is 9-8 and has 1 game remaining, on Wednesday, February 8th against MDI on Senior Recognition Night in Ellsworth. The game will tip off with the pregame at 6:30 on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio and on our free dowloadable APP, sponsored by First National Bank.

John Bapst finishes the season at 11-7.

Ellsworth is currently 10th in the Class B North Heal Points, while John Bapst is 7th. The prelim playoff game on February 14th features the Number 10 seed at the court of the number 7 seed.
