Congratulations to Ellsworth High School wrestlers, Peyton Cole and Trent Goodman who will be competing at the New England Tournament in Providence, Rhode Island this Friday and Saturday March 3rd-4th.

Junior Peyton Cole won the 152 # championship with a thrilling come from behind 15 to 13 victory over Quinton Richards of Nokomis. Trent Goodman placed 2nd at 170 # losing a hard fought 4 to 2 decision to the tournament’s outstanding wrestler Robert Heatherman of Mt. Ararat/ Brunswick.

Sophomore Logan Lord placed 4th losing a tough decision to his season long nemesis Steven Thompson of Medomak Valley by a score of 9 to 6. Lord’s only losses this year were to senior wrestlers.  Logan Lord is an alternate to the Tournament in Providence (Top 3 in each weight class make the tournament, with the 4th place finisher an alternate)

Judd Kinney also participated in the tournament losing to eventual champion Samson Sirois of Skowhegan in a first round match.
